Schools and Alternative Provision Partnerships
WeDrum delivers high quality drumming and music programmes in primary and secondary schools and alternative provisions (APs), including pupil referral units and SEND schools. We provide inclusive, engaging and highly accessible shared creative experiences that support both musical development and pupil wellbeing.
We offer curriculum enrichment, regular weekly programmes, whole class projects, extra curricular or targeted interventions. Our programmes are tailored to the specific needs of your setting.
Many students who take part in regular school drumming with us report increased focus, confidence and engagement with learning. School staff across settings observe improvements in engagement, attitude, behaviour, regulation, communication, teamwork and readiness to learn. Several of our school and AP participants choose to and are supported by us to progress into our community groups and some into youth leadership roles within those.
Our music leaders have many years experience across varied education settings, including holding previous and current roles as Head of Music (secondary), Programme Lead for Music (Multi Academy-Trust) and Primary Music Specialist & Subject Lead. We hold qualifications in ACE (Adverse Childhood Experiences)/Trauma-informed and SEND approaches, as well as safeguarding and restraint training.
SEND
With schools are seeing an increasing range and high level of additional needs and vulnerabiities, taking part in group or 1:2:1 drumming can provide young people with equal opportunities to a weekly source of positivity, validation and predictability. Our work in SEND units has also given students opportunities to make huge leaps in development of their motor skills, problem solving and collaboration.
PRUS
WeDrum 1:2:1 and small group intervention sessions provide students with a safe space to develop musical skills and creativity, positive personal relationships, self regulation, self esteem , autonomy and more. Feedback from PRU partners has also included a positive impact on attendence and speech and language development.
